Adulam Ministries Outreach Projects
We have found that one of the best methods of helping program participants remain firm in their new lifestyle is by teaching them the value of service. Below are some examples of the outreach projects in which the men have been able to put their faith to work.
Short Term Mission Trips
Adulam takes men from the program as well as church members on mission trips to Jalisco, Sinaloa, and Chihuahua at three different times a year. Participants in these trips work with children through clowning and Vacation Bible School activities, as well as performing construction work and supporting local church leadership.
Local Church Involvement
Adulam Ministries partners with a church in Cd. Juarez called La Puerta de la Fe (The Door of Faith). The men in the program not only attend services at the church, but also participate in service opportunities such as a children's soup kitchen and building projects.
Once a week, Adulam takes the men to the streets to share music and testimonies in the surrounding neighborhoods. In addition to being an effecting means of ministering to community members, these services also give the men a chance to learn to share their new faith with others.
Married Couples Ministry
We believe that family ministry is a vital part of restoration in Christ for the majority of the men at Adulam. The need for family counseling, particularly in the area of marriage and relationships, is strong both among the men in the program and also members of the church. For this reason, Adulam leadership leads ministry activities for married couples in a variety of forms, ranging from special events for large groups to weekly Bible studies for small groups of couples. These activities have proven fruitful for all involved.
Since Adulam is a ministry that was conceived within the walls of the city prison, we feel it is our duty and privilege to continue to minister to those who need to know the freedom that is in Christ that are currently serving time in prison. Members of Adulam visit the prison and jails on a weekly basis, bringing both food and a message of hope to those who find themselves in a sometimes hopeless situation.
Men at Adulam often have many tangible skills to offer the community, and we put these to good work whenever we can in the form of a construction ministry. We have been able to bless many people in the neighborhood with maintenance and improvement projects on their homes that they might otherwise not have been able to complete, as well as completing construction on various ministry centers in other parts of Mexico. Many men in the program have been surprised to discover the joy that has come through serving their neighbors in this unexpected way.
